South Kashmir: Civilian killed after forces open fire in Shopian

A youth was killed and two others injured after government forces opened fire on protesters in Ganowpora village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday.

Sources at District Hospital Pulwama said that the youth, identified as Javid Ahmad Bhat, was brought to the facility with critical head injuries. “He succumbed at the hospital,” they said.

Medical Superintendent District Hospital Pulwama Dr Rashid Parra confirmed the death of Bhat.

Another youth, identified as Adil Ahmad, is being treated at the facility, said the sources.

Reports said that forces opened fire after youth pelted them with stones in Ganowpora village.
